5 arrested after searches find guns, cash and drugs: Montreal police

Montreal police (SPVM) arrested five suspects, aged 26 to 41, in a series of seizures that resulted in guns, drugs and cash being seized.

The SPVM said in a news release that five handguns were seized after searches in the Southwest, LaSalle, Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Cote-des-Neges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace boroughs and in the city of Laval.

The operation “targeted an organization suspected of trafficking narcotics mainly in the Southwest borough of Montreal.”

In addition to the guns, $100,000 worth of drugs, including cocaine, crack, methamphetamine and fentanyl, were seized, according to police.

In addition, around $35,000 in cash was seized.

Three of the suspects, Wade Harris, Christopher Mark and Charles Dryden, appeared in the Montreal courthouse on Wednesday, facing firearms and drug charges. They were kept in custody.

The other two were released with a summons to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation was led by the SPVM’s multi-sector firearms squad, which was assisted by Laval police (SPL).
