Temperatures slow to rise Tuesday as milder air moves into southern Ontario

Temperatures were slow to rise Tuesday, but are expected to climb by a few degrees through the afternoon.

“We’ve had some light precipitation moving through the Bruce Peninsula. The rest of the region is picking up a bit of cloud cover, but other than that, it’s been quite pleasant across the region,” said CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison.

A weak cold front to the north is expected to remain in place, with skies clearing again overnight and temperatures dropping.

“So heading through the afternoon, anywhere from zero to five degrees across southern Ontario, with London hovering just above the freezing mark right now. Overnight, minus three to minus six,” Atchison said. “Skies will be clear and the winds will be light and variable as we head into Wednesday.”

Overcast conditions, along with some breaks of sunshine, are expected Wednesday. Rain is in the forecast heading into Thursday.

Atchison said scattered showers are expected to move through the region, accompanied by gusty winds.

“Temperatures will be on the mild side Thursday. Rain is expected, with some mixed precipitation toward the Bruce Peninsula,” she said. “The rest of the region will be above the freezing mark and well above 16 degrees on Thursday.”

A cold front is expected to cross the area Friday, bringing cooler temperatures, though plenty of sunshine is forecast. The daytime high is expected to reach one degree, with a sunny spring weekend ahead.
