Continued chance of showers for Simcoe County amid heat warning

After a considerable downpour of rain Tuesday morning, the precipitation isn’t done yet, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

Since yesterday, much of Simcoe County has been under an orange or yellow heat warning, meaning residents could see temperatures well into the 30 degrees range, feeling even hotter at times due to humidity.

With the heat warning comes the chance of thunderstorms and for many residents, the overnight hours of Tuesday brought exactly that.

But ECCC says a risk of thunderstorms is expected to persist throughout Tuesday morning, potentially bringing another 15 to 25 millimeters of precipitation to the area.

As we get into the evening hours, ECCC says the chance of precipitation remains at 40 per cent.

Despite the sweltering heat, the weather organization says rainy conditions can be expected for much of the week.
