Montreal police are investigating after a teenager was found unconscious in a backyard pool in the city’s Anjou borough Monday evening. Police received a 911 call at around 5:20 p.m. and officers responded to the home near the intersection of Lévesque and Georges avenues. Officers administered CPR with the help of paramedics before the victim, a 17-year-old boy, was sent to hospital in critical condition. According to preliminary information from the scene, the boy was swimming at a friend’s house. “A few minutes later, he reportedly began having difficulty swimming and went under the water,” said Johany Charland, a police spokesperson said. “People at the scene pulled him out of the pool, but he wasn’t conscious.” Police have set up a perimeter near the scene as they investigate the incident. Investigators will interview witnesses and look for surveillance camera footage to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing.
