Two arrested over break-ins in Guelph, Simcoe, York Region

Two people have been arrested in connection with break-ins at restaurants in Guelph, Simcoe and other locations.

The Guelph break-ins occurred Oct. 9 at a Dairy Queen on Woolwich Street and a Domino’s Pizza on Silvercreek Parkway North.

In both cases, thieves smashed front doors to gain entry to the restaurants and, once inside, proceeded to steal cash.

At the Domino’s, a crowbar was used to pry open a safe.

York Regional Police say the arrests were made Oct. 17 in Simcoe after investigators followed the suspects to that town and saw them break into an A&W restaurant.

Two Toronto men, 30-year-old Blair Kerr and 33-year-old Gordon Edwards, are charged in connection with those three break-ins and 12 others across southern Ontario.

According to police, the first break-in occurred in May in Aurora and the bulk of the alleged offences took place within York Region.
