Stratford Police looking for male with a handgun

The Stratford Police Service is looking for leads after they received a report of a male walking around Devon Street with a handgun.

Police were told the was spotted near 619 Devon Street around 12:31 p.m. Thursday.

Despite arriving within minutes, officers weren’t able to find the person or the alleged gun.

The male was described as white and wore blue Nike jogging pants that were tight at the ankle, a beige camouflage hoodie and headphones around his neck.

He was seen walking east along the north side of the street before police were called.

The area was briefly closed to traffic while Stratford Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police officers searched for the male on foot and a drone with thermal imaging technology was sent out.

The male was not located and so the roads were reopened to traffic.
