Folk music vibrations will fill the night at the Music on the Rooftop event at the Barrie Public Library. The Barrie Folk Society helps host the rooftop acoustic open stage night. “Libraries are places where people come together to learn, connect, and share experiences,” said Tedi Brash, program and outreach librarian at Barrie Public Library. “We’re excited to partner with the Barrie Folk Society to welcome the community for evenings of live acoustic music, local talent, and connection on our rooftop reading garden this summer.” Held on the Reading Garden rooftop patio at the downtown branch, this free community event welcomes music lovers and aspiring performers alike to three evenings of acoustic folk music throughout the summer. Open Stage Thursday Nights: July 9, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. August 13, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Audience members are invited to relax, enjoy live performances, and take in the views from the library’s rooftop Reading Garden. Musicians are asked to bring their acoustic instruments and sign up for a chance to perform their favourite folk songs in a welcoming, community-focused setting. Performance sign-ups begin 15 minutes before each event. To ensure as many musicians as possible have an opportunity to play, each set is limited to three songs or a maximum of 10 minutes. Attendees are welcome to join one evening or all three. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the Library’s Gathering Place on the main level of the library.
