Cowboys Dance Hall is closing its doors. The nightclub announced its closure on social media on Monday, saying it’s “riding into an exciting new chapter.” The nightclub, operated by Penny Lane Entertainment, first opened in 1996 at the old Penny Lane Mall on Ninth Avenue S.W., before moving locations in 2007. It then moved again, reopening in 2012 inside the Cowboys Casino. “We wish the Calgary Stampede well with the ongoing operations and eventual rebrand of the Cowboys Casino,” reads the post. Officials say they’re turning their focus toward “growing the Cowboys Music Festival, creating bold new events at Cowboys Park” and bringing “more exciting experiences and economic drivers” to the city. “We are so deeply grateful to every fan, team member and partner who has been a part of this incredible journey,” Cowboys said. “30 years was just the beginning,” the post reads. “The boots aren’t coming off; we’re stepping into something bigger, bolder and built for the future. “Hold onto your hats Calgary – the next era of ‘the most fun you can have with your boots on’ starts now.”
