South Simcoe police throw the book at unsafe tractor-towing pickup driver

South Simcoe Police officers pulled over a vehicle with a trailer on the backroads of Bradford Saturday night.

Police began inspecting the truck and trailer loaded with a tractor, and determined it was loaded badly; that in fact, the trailer tongue was periodically scraping the road.

Police continued with the inspection and found several infractions including load security, brakes and tie downs were not safely maintained.

A 72-year-old Beaverton man was charged with:

• Overweight load - violate permit
• Failure to surrender inspection report
• Operating a commercial vehicle without displaying an inspection sticker
• Failure to surrender a completed daily inspection report,
• Failure to have required number of tie-downs
• Improper braking system
• Insecure load
