Police say 13-year-old Brampton boy took parents’ vehicle, fled from OPP in Gravenhurst

Police say he stole his parent's vehicle and then tried to flee from officers in Muskoka this morning.

A 13-year-old Brampton boy is up for charges after police say he took his parents’ vehicle, fled from officers in Gravenhurst and eventually left the roadway.

On Tuesday at 3:30 a.m., Bracebridge OPP say officers were contacted by Peel Regional Police about a missing vehicle allegedly being driven by the teen, who was believed to be heading up north to visit friends.

Investigators say they spotted the driver near Lofty Pines Drive and attempted to stop him, but the boy refused to pull over and tried to leave the area.

Police report that the vehicle left the roadway on Doe Lake Road, where the driver, who was uninjured, was placed under arrest.

His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but he has since been charged with dangerous driving, taking a motor vehicle without consent, flight from a peace officer and stunt driving.

He was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to his charges.
