A Barrie police team arrested a 34-year-old Mississauga man with luring a child under 18. Barrie’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) received a report from a patrol officer concerning a child under 18 being lured and exploited online on social media platforms Instagram and Snapchat. On Thursday, Barrie’s ICE unit executed a search warrant at a home in Mississauga. Several electronic devices belonging to the accused were seized for full forensic analysis. The man faces charges of luring a child under 18 and making sexually explicit material available to a child. Staying Safe on Social Media: Parents and guardians are encouraged to take the time to sit down and have these hard conversations with their teens and share the importance of not sharing intimate photos. Parents must be vigilant and discuss openly the potential consequences to taking part in these activities.
