Penetanguishene takes extra Pride in its pathways

This summer, Penetanguishene community and staff have created several new walkways around town in celebration of diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the community.

The project is part of a broader initiative that will see another three crosswalks painted across Penetanguishene in 2026:

• Main Street / Robert Street – in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day
• Main Street / Poyntz Street – in observance of Remembrance Day and to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Penetanguishene Royal Canadian Legion
• Main Street / Water Street – celebrating Franco-Ontarian Day

While the Pride walkway marks a vibrant milestone, Mayor Doug Rawson say it is only the beginning.

“We remain committed to continuing to listen, learn, and find meaningful ways to show our ongoing support for Pride community members,” Rawson said.
