Gravenhurst cottage went up in flames: a total loss

Crews were called to Lawland Heights Drive around 5:40 a.m. after a passerby called in the fire.

A cottage in Gravenhurst is a total loss, fire crews say, after it erupted into flames Tuesday early morning.

Gravenhurst Fire Chief Jared Cayley says the call came in from passersby at around 5:40 a.m. to the structure fire on Lawland Heights Drive in the west end of town.

There were six trucks and 20 firefighters that responded.

Cayley said the fire did not spread far.

There were no injuries and no pets injured.

It is unknown as to the cause of the fire.
