If you’re paying with cash or working the register, it might be worth taking a second glance; fake bills are making rounds in the Midland and Penetanguishene area.

Police say several recent incidents have involved counterfeit $50 and $100 bills being used at local businesses. The reports have sparked a warning to both shoppers and store owners to stay alert when handling money.

Telltale signs your cash is fake

Investigators say these fake bills can look real but often have telltale signs like a different texture, blurry printing or missing security features.

OPP is reminding people not to accept or recirculate suspicious cash and to report it if they come across it.
