Barrie mall altercation between teens ends with recovered machete

Officers say cell phone video shows a man armed with a machete chasing others.

A large machete was discovered in the snow outside the Georgian Mall on Bayfield Street Monday after reports of several teenagers involved in an altercation.

Officials allege cell phone video obtained by police shows one teen with a machete chasing others at the popular Barrie mall.

Officers searched the area around 6:40 p.m. but did not find any suspects or victims linked to the incident. No injuries were reported.

During a search of the mall’s parking lot, officers say they found a machete believed to be the same weapon from the video.
