Teen charged after allegedly threatening youths in firearm incident: Charlottetown police

A 19-year-old was arrested just before noon Friday in Charlottetown, P.E.I., after police allege he threatened a group of young people with a firearm.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to the area of Queen Parkade around 11:35 a.m.

“The suspect was identified, located and apprehended on Kent Street within minutes. Officers were able to mitigate the high-risk incident and arrest a 19-year-old male without incident. During the arrest, police located and seized an imitation firearm,” reads a news release from Charlottetown Police Services.

The unnamed teen has been charged with:

• possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
• assault causing bodily harm
• assault with a weapon
• uttering threats
• carrying a concealed weapon
• use of an imitation firearm
• three counts of failure to comply with probation order

Police say he was also charged with theft and failure to comply with a probation order on a separate matter.

The teen is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
