Wanted man charged for dangerous driving, fleeing from police in Kentville: N.S. RCMP

A wanted man is facing additional charges after he allegedly fled from police in Kentville, N.S., last week.

An RCMP officer saw a vehicle believed to be driven by a man wanted on a provincewide warrant on April 13 around 2:45 p.m.

The officer then tried to pull the grey Hyundai Accent over near Campbell Road and Scott Drive.

Police say the driver did not stop and quickly accelerated, travelling southbound on Oakdene Avenue.

The officer did not pursue the Accent out of consideration for public safety.

They later found the vehicle a short time later in a parking lot on Belcher Street.

Police say as the officer approached, the driver fled again and turned onto Belcher Street.

Another officer was able to see the driver and identified him as Nathan Malcolm Cox of Hortonville, according to an RCMP news release.

The officers did not pursue the vehicle again due to safety concerns.

Police say they responded to a home on Ridge Road in Wolfville two days later and found the Accent.

Cox, 41, and a 34-year-old woman were arrested.

Police say Cox was arrested in relation to the April 13 incidents and previous offences he was wanted for.

The woman was also arrested for previous offences she was wanted for.

Cox has been charged with:

• dangerous operation of a conveyance (vehicle)
• flight from police

Police say he was also issued summary offence tickets for offences under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Cox and the woman have been released on conditions, pending future court appearances.
