Man charged after RCMP seizes cocaine, handgun at Greenwood, N.S., home

A Digby County man is facing a drug trafficking charge after the RCMP seized cocaine and a handgun at a Greenwood, N.S., home last week.

Police say they searched a home at the 1700 block of Highway 201 on June 22 as part of a drug trafficking investigation. Along with the cocaine and handgun, they say they seized cash and ammunition.

They also arrested Keenan Alexander Paul Swift, 34, of Freeport, N.S., at the scene.

Swift was charged with:

• possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
• two counts of careless use of a firearm
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
• possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized
• possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
• possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence

Swift was released on conditions and is set to appear in court on Sept. 8.
