A 39-year-old man is facing multiple charges for allegedly stealing a motorcycle and an altercation that left a Halifax police officer with minor injuries. The officer was patrolling on a police e-bike Wednesday at 7 p.m. and noticed a man driving a motorcycle down Upper Water Street without a helmet on. The motorcycle stopped at a red light and the officer approached to try and speak to the driver. “The driver became aggressive and accelerated the motorcycle toward the officer,” reads a social media post from Halifax police. “The officer grabbed the motorcycle, causing it to tip over. The driver then attempted to flee on foot but was arrested by other officers as they arrived at the scene.” Police checked the licence plate and found the man riding it wasn’t the registered owner of the vehicle. They contacted the owner and confirmed it had been stolen from a parking spot on Lower Water Street. EHS treated the officer for minor injuries.
