Man seen being taken in handcuffs during Osborne Village investigation

Winnipeg police closed off a section of Osborne Street Wednesday morning for a "contained investigation."

A Wednesday morning Winnipeg police investigation in the Osborne Village area ended with one person in handcuffs.

In a social media post, the service said there was a large police presence in the 100 block of Osborne Street for a “contained investigation.”

Video from the scene shows police vehicles and armed officers near a home in the area, which was cordoned off by police tape.

Officers can be seen entering the home and emerging with a man in handcuffs.

At one point, it also appears some sort of smoke grenade was used, as smoke could be seen coming from the house.

Police previously reported that Roslyn Road was closed at Osborne; however, streets reopened as of 9:30 a.m.

Police said there is no imminent risk to public safety and that officers have cleared the area.
