Police to reveal ‘major development’ after B.C. volleyball coach arrested for alleged sexual assaults

Police said they received a tip on Dec. 22, 2024, alleging a youth had been assaulted by the coach.

Police in North Vancouver, B.C., are expected to announce a “major development” Thursday in a case involving sexual assault allegations against a local volleyball coach.

The North Vancouver RCMP announced in April 2025 that a 50-year-old man had been arrested as part of a “complex investigation involving allegations of sexual assaults that occurred over a period of several years.”

Investigators said they were acting on a tip received on Dec. 22, 2024, alleging a youth had been assaulted by the coach.

The man, whose name has not been released, was freed from custody on several conditions pending charge approval and further investigation, police said.

Cpl. Mansoor Sahak said in April of last year that investigators were hoping to speak with more potential victims and anyone with information related to the case.
