A new exhibit at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) aims to educate children and their families about the 14 owl species found in the province. Over the summer, the RSM will offer owl-themed programming, including a scavenger hunt, postcard stamp station, special theme nights, trivia slideshows, interactive games and activities in the Learning Lab. “This summer, kids and families can come see the new exhibit and learn all about the Owls of Saskatchewan, including what they eat and how they live,” Alana Ross, minister of parks, culture, and sport said in an update from the province on Thursday. The 14 owl species featured in the new exhibit are the great grey, great horned, snowy, American barn, barred, long-eared, short-eared, northern hawk, western screech, eastern screech, boreal, burrowing, northern saw-whet, and northern pygmy. An official display opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with the RSM set to host activities including a visit from two burrowing owls from the Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre.
