Walpole Island First Nation is returning its chief for another term. Chief Leela Thomas was re-elected to serve her second term on Saturday. Thomas received 504 votes, more than double the votes received by the runner-up. In a post to social media, she says she looks forward to continuing to serve the community and working together with the new council in unity, respect, and shared purpose. Councils serve two-year terms.
