Guelph Police have charged a 13-year-old boy who was seen with a weapon on Friday. The incident reportedly happened in the area of College Avenue West and Vanier Drive around 1:30 p.m. “A witness reported the suspect removed a firearm from a backpack and racked the slide before putting it back in the backpack and fleeing the area,” a media release said. Several schools in the south-end of the city were briefly placed in hold and secure until they located the 13-year-old inside a nearby business. Police said they seized a realistic-looking air pistol and a knife, which they determined had been stolen. The boy was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with an undertaking.
