The Gordie Howe International Bridge will officially display its first lighting program Monday, now that it is open to traffic. The art display, called ‘Shimmer’, was created by Douglas Copeland, and ‘showcases the bridge by the gentle motion and pulling back a curtain of twinkling lights, moving from the center span to land.’ In a social media post, the Gordie Howe Bridge team says the light is unified and doesn’t distinguish one country from another, signifying the partnership between Canada and the U.S. for the bridge’s lifetime.
