Youth seriously injured in incident at mall: Langley RCMP

There was a large police presence at Willowbrook Mall in Langley Saturday afternoon as officers responded to a report of a robbery, Mounties say.

The Langley RCMP says police were sent to 19705 Fraser Hwy. just after 4:30 p.m.

Emergency crews found a youth victim who “appeared to be assaulted with a weapon,” and was taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

No other further information about the incident was provided.

“Officers responded quickly to ensure the safety of everyone in the area,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said, in a news release later that night. “At this time, there is no ongoing risk to the public as this incident appears to be targeted.”

The Langley RCMP asked anyone who witnessed the incident to call the detachment at 604-532-3200.
