An elderly man has come forward following a hit-and-run in Langley that left one person dead. RCMP say the Langley resident identified himself as the driver of the vehicle believed to be involved in the early morning crash on May 16. Mounties said they were called to Fraser Highway between 232 and 240 streets around 4:40 a.m. for a “person in distress.” Officers found a pedestrian “who had suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” the Langley RCMP said in a news release, but the driver did not remain at the scene. Mounties say the elderly man came forward to investigators later that day. They are now looking for more information on what led up to the deadly incident. “As the investigation progresses, we are working to corroborate the sequence of events that led to this tragic outcome,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said in a statement Tuesday. Investigators are looking to speak with the driver of a white SUV that was spotted in the area at the time of the crash.
