Abbotsford police warn of string of drive-by pellet gun shootings

Police in Abbotsford issued a public safety alert warning of what they call a series of concerning random incidents involving young men shooting a pellet or airsoft gun at pedestrians along the road.

Between about 6:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, police said they received reports of five similar drive-by pellet gun shootings.

“In each case, the victims described a white or light-colored SUV—occupied by younger South Asian males—approaching them, followed by either the visible production of a firearm from within the vehicle or the sound of shots being fired in their direction,” the Abbotsford Police Department wrote in a news release Thursday.

Police said one victim sustained a minor injury.

The department is investigating whether the incidents are connected and asked anyone with information or dash camera video to call 604-859-5225.

Police are particularly looking for video from the following areas: Peardonville Emerson Street between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Mt. Lehman Road and Sandpiper Drive between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; the 3100 block of Mt. Lehman Road between 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.; George Ferguson Way and Gladwin Road between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and the 32900 block of South Fraser Way between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
