Roads reopen in Toronto’s east end after Beaches Easter Parade wraps up

Toronto’s annual Easter parade took place in the Beaches despite the damp weather. Natalie Johnson reports.

Roads in Toronto’s east end have officially reopened following the annual Beaches Easter Parade on Sunday afternoon.

The 60th annual parade, hosted by the Toronto Beaches Lions Club, began at 2 p.m. along Queen Street East at Munroe Park Avenue and made its way toward Woodbine Avenue, Lake Shore Boulevard East and Coxwell Avenue.

Toronto Police had closed several major routes throughout the day to accommodate the event, with full and partial closures in place along Queen Street East, Woodbine Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East.

Those restrictions were lifted by late afternoon after the parade concluded.

Transit service is also expected to return to normal after temporary reroutes impacted TTC buses and the 501 Queen streetcar during the event.

The parade went ahead rain or shine, with the sun noticeably making an appearance throughout parts of the event.
