Sask. RCMP investigating homicide in Pelican Narrows

The Saskatchewan RCMP major crimes unit is investigating the death of an 18-year-old man from Pelican Narrows as a homicide.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, at around 8 a.m., officers responded to the scene on Kaskew Crescent in Pelican Narrows for a report of a man seriously injured by a gun, Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

Police say the man was taken to a local health clinic by a member of the public, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. His family has been notified, and police say an autopsy will take place on Monday, Aug. 18, in Saskatoon.

The RCMP major crimes unit is leading the investigation, with the assistance of Pelican Narrows RCMP, the RCMP forensic identification section, and the service’s historical case unit.

Police say there is no increased risk to the safety of the public – adding that residents will be informed if the situation changes.
