Damage tops $1M after early-morning townhouse fire in north London

Damage is estimated to exceed $1 million after fire broke out at a townhouse complex in London’s north end.

Crews were called to the scene in the early morning hours of June 3, with fire showing on multiple units on arrival.

According to London fire, firefighters acted quickly to knock down the blaze and limit the extension to the adjacent units.

No injuries have been reported and fire prevention has been requested to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire.

London fire says, “This incident serves as an important reminder of the critical role working smoke detectors play in protecting lives. Early-warning smoke detectors provide valuable time to escape — this is especially important in multi-unit dwellings were fire and smoke can quickly affect neighbouring units."
