Man accused of stealing merch behind counter at Regina business

A 31-year-old man has been charged with robbery at a Regina business last week.

Regina police say they responded to a report of a robbery at a business in the 5000 block of Sherwood Drive at 12:10 p.m. on April 2.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect had gone behind the counter and stolen merchandise before fleeing the scene in a vehicle with another individual,” read a Tuesday news release.

“While officers processed the scene and gathered information, additional units searched the area for the suspect vehicle.”

Police said they were later able to find a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the 1000 block of Pasqua Street.

Around 1:15 p.m., officers performed a traffic stop and two suspects said to have matching descriptions from earlier were arrested. Police said one of the suspects was released without charges after it was determined they weren’t involved in the offence.

The accused made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday April 6.
