Ottawa police seek to identify suspect in fraud investigation

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is looking to identify a suspect in an investigation into a bank scam.

Police say the victim was called on Aug. 21 and was told their bank had detected suspicious activity on their account. The caller told the victim to cut up their debit and credit cards, place them in an envelope, and give them to a “courier” who would arrive at the door.

The “courier” picked up the cards and the victim later noticed unfamiliar charges on their accounts, police said.

Police are now asking anyone who recognizes the person in the photos provided to contact the West Criminal Investigations Section at 613-236-1222 ext. 2666.
