Young person in North Bay charged with dangerous driving in incident caught on video

A young driver has been charged with dangerous driving after nearly striking three students outside North Bay's St. Joseph-Scollard Hall on Friday.

Police in North Bay say they have charged a young person in connection with an incident Oct. 31 in which three students were almost struck by a vehicle.

In a news release Tuesday morning, police said they made an arrest in the case, but didn’t reveal the age of the suspect.

The incident, which was caught on video, took place around 10 a.m. when a vehicle sped through the back parking lot of St. Joseph’s Scollard Hall.

“The driver then turned left onto McLeod Street, nearly striking three students and a pole before fleeing the scene,” police said.

“With assistance from the public, (police were) able to locate the registered owner of the vehicle and identify the driver.”

The young person has been charged with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused was arrested and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
