Teen pepper sprayed employee who refused them entry, Sault police say

A 17-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged following an incident June 25 at a business on Northern Avenue East.

Police responded around 5:40 p.m. to a 911 call about an employee who was attacked.

“An investigation revealed the accused youth attempted to spray an employee with pepper spray when they were denied entry into the business,” police said in a news release June 30.

“Officers located the accused nearby, and they were arrested.”

Charges include assault with a weapon, administering a noxious thing with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm and two counts of breach of recognizance.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 15.
