Officers with the Anishinabek Police Service are appealing for public assistance after a man reportedly attempted to lure a young girl into a vehicle at Bell’s Point Beach Campground on Garden River First Nation on Sunday evening. Police received a report on Tuesday regarding an incident that occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on July 26. “It is reported that a vehicle was observed driving past an area of the campground a number of times before stopping near a young girl on her bicycle,” police said in a news release. The male driver attempted to lure the girl into the vehicle when a witness intervened, and the man drove off. Vehicle and suspect descriptions The vehicle is described as a later-model white sedan, possibly a Saturn, with tinted windows, a tinted rear plate cover, no front plates and black pompoms dangling from the front end. The driver is described as a man of East Indian descent, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black turban. Appeal for information “This is an active investigation,” police said. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the interaction, remembers seeing the described vehicle or driver, or has dashcam footage from the campground or surrounding area from the evening of July 26 to come forward.
