A popular waterpark in B.C.’s Fraser Valley has partially reopened, some six weeks after an “electrical incident” left a dozen children injured during a field trip. Cultus Lake Waterpark is operating on reduced hours Wednesday through Friday, and some of the attractions remain closed, including Pirates Cove, Radical Rapids and all hot tubs. Given the limited operation of the park, tickets are “currently available at a reduced rate,” according to a notice on the business’s website. “Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through this process,” the notice reads. It’s unclear when most of the closed attractions will reopen, but the waterpark said the Cabana Cove hot tub will remain out of service for the rest of the 2026 season. The June 15 incident left 12 children with shock and burn injuries. Family members told CTV News the victims were hurt after coming into contact with a railing while they waited to go on the Zero to 60 Raceway. Technical Safety B.C. initially ordered the waterpark to shut down completely pending a comprehensive safety review of the premises, which has since been completed. In a statement Wednesday, the agency told CTV News its preliminary investigation determined the incident resulted from “a combination of previous installation issues and recent electrical failures.” “The park operator has been diligent in resolving this and any other necessary non-compliances, and we can confirm the reopened portion of the park meets safety requirements,” the statement continued. The repairs were completed by “qualified, licensed contractors” and brought the systems into “full compliance with the B.C. Electrical Code,” the agency said. Cultus Lake Waterpark also passed a follow-up inspection by safety officers.
