North Bay drug bust nets 7 charges, 2 arrests

The North Bay Police Service has charged two people in connection with a drug trafficking investigation that began in the spring.

Police said investigators with the street crime unit launched the probe into suspected drug trafficking activity within the community.

On the evening of June 18, the police service said officers arrested one of the accused in the 1100 block of Ferguson Street as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to police, investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of McNamara Street.

The second accused was located and arrested as a result of the warrant execution.

During the search, police said officers located and seized quantities of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, along with evidence consistent with drug trafficking activity.

Charges laid

A 26-year-old from Milton, Ont., and a 28-year-old local woman have each been charged with three drug trafficking offences.

The man faces an additional charge of possession of proceeds of crime.

Both accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

“Our officers are working tirelessly to combat the flow of illegal drugs into North Bay,” said Insp. Scott McFarlane in a news release.

“We remain fully committed to disrupting the drug trade, holding offenders accountable.”
