The funerals for two paramedics who died in an ambulance crash near the Confederation Bridge was held in Charlottetown on Friday. Mike MacKenzie, 56, and Jenna Croucher, 23, died on July 7 when their ambulance collided with a transport truck in Melrose, N.B. A patient, 77-year-old Anne Martell, was also killed. A regimental funeral was scheduled at the Delta Prince Edward for Croucher at 10 a.m. Friday. Croucher’s procession A procession for Croucher, which was escorted by emergency vehicles, left the hotel around 11:40 a.m. The City of Charlottetown announced the road closures, which began at 10:30 a.m.: Queen Street were closed to all vehicle traffic at 11:10 a.m. from Water Street to Grafton Street as the procession left. The procession travelled the following route: It then travelled to Croucher’s home in Nine Mile Creek before returning to Charlottetown. The city says all roads would reopen once the procession has passed. MacKenzie’s procession A regimental funeral also took place for MacKenzie at 2 p.m. at the Delta Prince Edward before a funeral mass, which was scheduled at St. Dunstan’s Basilica at 4 p.m. Island EMS said his procession would begin at 5:30 p.m. following the service.
