Another smoky day with poor air quality, but relief will be here soon

Waking up to another hazy, smoky sky Friday with very poor air quality.

However, CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison says we are expecting improvement.

“Now the winds this morning will be light and variable. Expect smoky, hazy conditions through the morning and early afternoon,” said Atchison. “We should see some clearing as we push towards sunset and the winds will be shifting … That will get us out of the funnel of smoke.”

Atchison this is in advance of our next weather system that brings the opportunity for some rainfall as we head into Friday night.

“Late Friday, early Saturday morning, we could see some rain, but the good news is the winds will shift tonight and as we head into Saturday,” she added.

Rainy conditions linger Saturday, but we can expect a clear and comfortable Sunday.

Friday: Widespread smoke. High 28. Humidex 34. UV index 9 or very high.

Friday night: Clear. Increasing cloudiness near midnight then 30 percent chance of showers overnight. Risk of a thunderstorm overnight. Widespread smoke. Low 20.

Saturday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers and risk of a thunderstorm. Local smoke in the morning and early in the afternoon. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning then becoming northwest 20 gusting to 40 in the afternoon. High 27.

Sunday: Sunny. High 25.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 26.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 24.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 22.
