Nine busted for online child porn

Twenty-five Canadians are among 57 men arrested after authorities shut down an international child-porn network , Toronto police announced Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010.

Nine people in Quebec have been arrested in connection with an online child pornography ring, police have confirmed.

The Surete du Quebec worked in collaboration with police in Laval, Longueuil, Terrebonne and Trois-Rivières to carry out the searches, seizures and arrests.

The investigation into online child porn began in May.

Two men have appeared in court: Sylvain Arbour, 34, of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier, who faces charges of possession and distribution of child pornography and Yohann Vallée, 40, of Trois-Rivières, charged with possession, distribution and production of child pornography, accessing child pornography and the illegal storage of a firearm. The rest have not yet appeared in court.

The police operation also led to the seizure of computer equipment. Any material found in the equipment will undergo a complete analysis, which could lead to further charges and arrests.
