A community search took place on Saturday to find a 30-year-old man who has been missing since February. Michael Masukume was last seen in the morning of Feb. 8 in the area of the University of Manitoba and Kings Park, police previously said on Feb. 13. “I’ve heard from family that he was a gifted young man who was bright, intelligent and was here to learn and to make his community better,” Angela Klassen, missing persons liaison for Bear Clan Patrol, told CTV News on Saturday. The community search took place at Kings Park, where Masukume’s phone was last pinged, according to Klassen. “We want to come out and support the family, try to help them have a little bit of closure. It’s difficult not knowing where a loved one is – and we just want to give that family the support they need right now.” Klassen said more investigation and search need to be done, adding that additional searches may take place after Winnipeg police finish their work. Masukume is described as five-foot-eight, medium build, with short black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Winnipeg police’s missing persons unit at 204-986-6250.
