Missing 82-year-old Alberta senior found dead in Saskatchewan: RCMP

After a search that lasted nearly two weeks, RCMP have found the body of a Calgary woman in rural Saskatchewan.

Eighty-two-year-old Diane Cooper was reported missing on April 6, after she had left her home in Edgemont with her dog Halo.

A security camera spotted Cooper in Stettler, Alta., filling up on gas and she was last seen in the western Saskatchewan hamlet of Hoosier close to midnight on April 6.

In a news release issued Sunday, Consort RCMP confirmed police found Cooper dead near Kindersley, Sask. Saturday evening.

Her death is being treated as not suspicious.

Halo was found alive.

Cooper’s granddaughter Zoe posted a note on social media Sunday afternoon.

“Our grandma has unfortunately passed away,” she said. “While this is not entirely unexpected, we are absolutely heartbroken.

“By some miracle, our dog Halo has survived.

“We are so deeply grateful to everyone who helped search, shared posts, and showed us kindness and support during this incredibly difficult time. It has meant more to us than we can express.”
