4.1-magnitude earthquake felt north of Edmonton

Another earthquake shook central Alberta residents Saturday afternoon.

A 4.1-magnitude quake was recorded 18 kilometres northeast of Morinville, 41 kilometres north of Edmonton, at 3:56 p.m., according to Earthquakes Canada.

The Alberta Geological Survey has the quake listed as ‘known induced.’

Three other notable quakes in the area have been felt since the start of this month, including a 4.5-magnitude one on April 1 near Gibbons which was confirmed to be related to the oil and gas industry.

On April 8, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded 15 kilometres northwest of Gibbons. Another 3.2-magnitude earthquake 10 kilometres north of the town happened April 3.
