Here are the Montreal-area road closures for the Mother’s Day weekend

Those looking to drive in and around Montreal should be aware of major road closures for the Mother’s Day weekend.

In particular, the Ville-Marie tunnel westbound will be closed and the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel will be closed overnight.

Ville-Marie Tunnel (Route-136)

• From Friday at midnight to Monday at 5 a.m., the Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136) westbound will be closed, including in the tunnel, between exit 5 (Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, Samuel-De Champlain bridge) and the Fort Street access.
• As a result, the Lucien-L’Allier Street access will be closed by default.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)

Northbound

• From Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., the tunnel will be closed between exit 90 (R-132) on Highway 20 west in Longueuil and the Hochelaga Street access in Montreal.

As a result, the following will be default closures 30 minutes before:

• Route-132 east and west on-ramps (exits 89-N).
• l’Île-Charron Street access.
• Channelling access to Île Charron from the Marie-Victorin Boulevard.

Southbound

• From Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., the tunnel will be closed between exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) in Montreal and Route-132 in Longueuil.

As a result, the following will be default closures 30 minutes before:

• Access via Sherbrooke, Tellier and Futailles streets.
• Souligny Avenue eastbound between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand.

Marcel-Laurin Boulevard (R-117)

• In Montreal’s Saint-Laurent / Cartierville boroughs, from Friday at 2 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., one of three lanes will close on Marcel-Lauin Boulevard (R-117) southbound under the CN railway viaduct (at the turnpike).

Papineau Avenue

• In Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough, from Monday until May 23, one of two southbound lanes on Papineau Avenue will close between Sainte-Catherine Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard.

Highway 530 (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield)

• From Friday at 8 p.m. to Saturday at 1 a.m. and from Sunday at 6 a.m. to Monday at 6 a.m., exit 5 (R-201 north, R-132 east, Mgr Langlois Boulevard, Coteau-du-Lac) will close on Highway 530 East.
• From Saturday at 1 a.m. to Sunday at 6 a.m., access from Route-201 South (Mgr Langlois Boulevard) will be closed on Highway 530 East.
• From Sunday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m., Highway 530 East will be closed between des Érables Boulevard and exit 5 (R-201 north, R-132 east, Mgr Langlois Boulevard, Coteau-du-Lac).

REM light rail line

• The network is closed every Saturday and Sunday in May.
• Shuttles will be available.

Bonaventure Highway (A-10) / Nuns’ Island

• The Nuns’ Island exit (5) off the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) east towards the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge is closed until the end of May.
• One lane will be open in both directions on the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) in the Clement Bridge area until December.
