A celebration of Indigenous culture filled Charles Clark Square in downtown Windsor Friday as the community gathered for a competition Powwow, marking National Indigenous History Month. The sound of drums and the sight of colourful regalia welcomed visitors to the free, family-friendly event. The competition Powwow featured traditional singing and dancing, Indigenous food, artisan vendors, and cultural teachings giving people an opportunity to experience and learn about Indigenous traditions firsthand. Organizers say hosting the event in the heart of downtown helps bring people together while celebrating their rich history. The event also serves as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and encourage greater understanding through shared cultural experiences.
