Dorval Walmart set to close this summer; third closure announced this month

A third Walmart has been added to the list of stores set to close in the coming weeks in the Montreal area: the Dorval location will shut its doors in July.

“We have made the difficult decision to close our Dorval store, located at 400 Dorval Avenue [in Dorval], on July 17, 2026,” said Steeve Azoulay, Senior Director of Public Affairs and spokesperson for Walmart.

Employees affected by the closure will be offered positions at Walmart stores near the location set to close.

“While these decisions are never easy, they are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure we meet the evolving needs of our customers and position our company for continued growth in Quebec,” the company stated in a press release sent to Noovo Info.

In early April, Walmart confirmed stores in Pointe-aux-Trembles and Côte-des-Neiges will soon also be closing as part of a strategic “review.”

It also noted that other Walmart stores could open soon, though no further details were provided.

The company is planning renovations for at least 18 stores in the near future, according to reports.

Walmart operates more than 70 stores across Quebec and employs more than 12,000 people.
