Canadiens forward Texier has a lower-body injury, will be re-evaluated daily

Forward Alexandre Texier has a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated daily, the Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday morning.

Texier will miss Tuesday night’s game against the Minnesota Wild.

The 26-year-old Frenchman did not take part in the Habs’ practice on Monday at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard.

Texier has scored seven goals and racked up nine assists in 27 games since signing with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge on Nov. 23 after being released by the St. Louis Blues.

The 6′1″, 196 lb forward’s performance since his arrival in the city has impressed Montreal management, who signed him to a two-year, US$5 million contract on Jan. 14.

Texier, a second-round pick, 45th overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2017 NHL draft, has 47 goals and 60 assists in 267 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Blues and Canadiens.

He also has two goals and six assists in 21 playoff games.

He is set to represent his country at the men’s ice hockey tournament at the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, taking place from Feb. 6 to 22, 2026.
