UPDATED: Snow squall warning lifted for London, Ont., road closures remain in effect

Multiple road closures remain in effect Tuesday evening as Environment Canada has lifted a snow squall warning for the London region.

A previously issued orange snow squall warning for the London region has been lifted by Environment Canada early Tuesday evening.

Parts of Huron, Bruce and Perth counties remain under an orange snow squall warning or watch. Squalls will remain “fairly stationary” through Wednesday, with local snowfall amounts of 20 to 70 cm possible, depending on the area.

Environment Canada says widespread blowing snow resulting in near zero visibility remains the primary concern as northwesterly wind gusts of 50 to 70 km/h are expected.

In London an additional 2 to 4 cm of snow is expected overnight with gusts of up to 50 km/h. The overnight low will dip down to - 7C, feeling like - 14 with the wind chill.

OPP are urging motorists to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and ask the public to monitor 511 Ontario for real-time updates.
