A Nova Scotia man is facing charges after he allegedly fled from police and hit a police car in Woodstock, N.B., Sunday morning. An officer with the Woodstock Police Force tried to stop a red Dodge Dakota on the Trans-Canada Highway around 5:50 a.m. Police say the driver didn’t stop and sped away. The truck was found a short time later. The driver then allegedly reversed into the police officer’s car, causing significant damage. Police say the suspect fled again and abandoned the truck before entering the Saint John River “in an attempt to escape.” Officers apprehended the man as he got out of the water. “The suspect provided a false name to officers but was later identified as Dillon Langille of Nova Scotia,” reads a news release from Woodstock police. “Further investigation revealed Mr. Langille was breaching conditions by leaving the province of Nova Scotia and was wanted on outstanding warrants. Police also seized a shotgun during the investigation.” Langille appeared in court and was charged with: He was released and is scheduled to return to court on July 28.
